Quilt
Draw
We
were fortunate enough to have a hand-made queen-size quilt
donated to us by Brenda Oliphant.
On
Monday, April 10th, the draw was made.
The
lucky winner of the quilt was Silva Svehla.

Here is Brenda Oliphant drawing the lucky
winner from the box of tickets held by 'Gramps'

This is Silva accepting her prize from

The winner and the Artisan

Here is Silva holding her prize, Brenda
showing her Certificate of Appreciation from the kids, and
Phil presenting both to the ladies.
Thanks
to Brenda's generous donation, we were able to raise $520.00
in ticket sales for our kids.

First of all, we want to point out that we are NOT a
registered charity and therefore cannot issue a tax receipt.
We have been personally raising funds for these children since
1999.
Most
of our fundraising involves selling snack-sized bags of candy,
peanuts and other goodies to co-workers at our place of work.
We
also buy gifty-type items, or accept donated items and raffle
them off at various times of the year.
Over
the years, we have received cash donations for various reasons.
One co-worker's mother passed away and the co-worker requested
that donations be made to us in lieu of flowers. Another co-worker
made a substantial donation after she, unfortunately, was
unable to complete the adoption of a child. Still another
co-worker decided to hold a Mexican-themed family Christmas
and, instead of a gift exchange, collected cash donations
for the children in Mexico.
I
have also been fortunate enough to be involved with a Stephen
King chat-line on the internet and have received a number
of donations from King fans from around the world.
Here
are pictures of our three current 'stores' in the Judy Lamarsh
building in Chatham, Ontario:
This
is the store in the disability section of the building:

This is the store in the A.P.U. section of
the building:

And this is the store in the Programs area
of the building:

All items are $1.00 and we depend on the honour
system for payment.
